The tour begins with a visit to the Church of Saint Nino in Bodbe, which played a pivotal role in the spread of Christianity across Georgia in the 4th century. Then, a leisurely stroll through the picturesque town of Signagi offers stunning views of the Alazani Valley. The day concludes with a visit to a dukes estate in Tsinandali, followed by a wine tasting and an overnight stay at a winery hotel, where guests can sample local wines. Here, wines are made using both the traditional Georgian method in underground clay vessels and the European method, providing insight into the differences.
Today, you'll start your day with a visit to the Gremi fortress, a residence of the Kakhetian kings dating back to the 16th century. Following this, you'll explore the picturesque Nekresi monastery complex, founded in the 6th century, offering stunning views of the wooded hills and vineyards. Later you'll visit the Telavi Museum to gain deeper insights into the history and ethnography of the Kakheti region, as well as admire a private collection of paintings by a local physician. Later, you'll have time for a leisurely stroll through the city to soak in the atmosphere. In the evening, you'll visit a family-run pottery workshop, where you'll learn about the production of large wine amphorae and sample regional specialties. Accommodation will be provided as per the previous day.
Enjoy free time to use the hotel's swimming pool and spa facilities, depending on the season (only the pool is included in the price). Check-out is at 12:00 p.m., followed by a drive back to Tbilisi via the Gombori Pass. End of a delightful journey in the wine region.
