Today, we begin our four-day trek from village to village, with some transfers along the way. Our journey starts in the picturesque Mazeri Valley, where we hike towards the base of the mystical Mount Ushba. The trail initially follows the edge of the forest, crossing two tributaries of the Dolra River before reaching a wide valley.
The route continues past a small chapel—a perfect photo opportunity set against an impressive mountain panorama. The trail then leads through light mixed forest and across a wooden bridge, bringing us to a Georgian border post. From here, the path becomes narrower and steeper, ultimately taking us to the magnificent Shdruga Waterfall. Along the way, we pause for a relaxing picnic lunch amidst the stunning scenery.
After visiting the waterfall, we return along the same path to Mazeri. From there, a short drive takes us to Mestia, the capital of the region. After checking into your accommodation, you’ll have free time to explore the town at your leisure and arrange dinner independently.

The guesthouse offers 11 rooms, half of which have private facilities, while the other half share facilities. Guests can also enjoy access to a garden and a terrace.
After a short drive with local off-road vehicles to the village of Zabeshi, we begin our next hike, which rewards us with breathtaking views of Mount Ushba and Mount Tetnuldi. The first challenge is an approximately 1.5-hour ascent to the Tetnuldi ski area, where the trail begins. This trail winds its way through rhododendron fields, across pastures, and through birch forests. Along the way, we cross small streams and take a break for a picnic lunch. The final part of the hike follows a hillside path across meadows, offering a fantastic view of our destination, Adishi (2115 m), which we reach shortly thereafter. Dinner and overnight stay in a simple guesthouse.

The path begins with a gentle ascent along the valley, then we cross a wooden bridge and enter a marshy area. We cross the river on horseback and continue through the forest and across meadows up to the Chkhuntieri Pass (2735 m). After descending, we reach the Khaldechala Valley, where a few shepherd huts are scattered. Passing the abandoned settlement of Khalde, the path leads us to the village of Iprari (1960 m), above the Inguri Valley. Dinner and overnight stay in a simple guesthouse, where several rooms share a bathroom.

Shortly after, the trail continues along a grassy steep slope, and soon we spot the road, accompanied by a power line, leading to Ushguli.
Upon arrival, we check into a cozy guesthouse and take a walk through the village. Ushguli is one of the highest permanently inhabited settlements in Europe, located at the foot of Georgia's highest mountain, Mount Shkhara (5201 m). The village captivates visitors with its medieval residential and defensive towers and offers a glimpse into the daily life of the locals, which is often challenging due to the remoteness and harsh climate. Today, you will leave Upper Svaneti and drive over the picturesque Zagaro Pass (2620 m) into the southern region of Racha-Lechkhumi-Lower Svaneti. If your departure is in the evening or the following day from Kutaisi, you can drive directly to Kutaisi (about 5 hours). However, if you would like to visit the capital Tbilisi as part of this trip, we recommend spending a night in Ambrolauri before continuing to Tbilisi the next day. In this case, you will also have time for a few stops and small hikes along the way from Ushguli before reaching the capital of the Racha region in the afternoon.
Racha is a mountainous region with many forests, known for its unique wines and local cuisine, which we of course won’t miss. You will visit the Chrebalo Winery, learn about the traditional Georgian wine-making method, and enjoy a wine tasting along with local specialties like Shkemurli (chicken in garlic sauce) and Lobiani (dough filled with beans), as you say goodbye to the fascinating mountain world of Georgia. Overnight stay in a small hotel in Ambrolauri.
